International students who have to study online due to COVID-19 restriction are now safe from any kind of setbacks while applying for a PGWP (Post-Graduation Work Permit). The duration of online studies completed by international students from outside of Canada is now considered valid for the purpose of a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP).
The program should commence in 2020 for such online studies to be counted. International students are required to apply for the study permit before 15th September 2020 and they should get done with at least half of their program in Canada. IRCC has decided not to refrain from counting the study progress of international students completed until 31st of December 2020.
In case you have not applied for a study permit yet, you must apply for your study permit online because the ports of entry are not fully functional due to the epidemic.
Canada is ready to accept incomplete applications for study permits as the newly introduced two-step study permit system enables international students to begin studying without a study permit. The full study permit shall be issued upon the submission of complete documents and approval of the application.
The PGWP will give international students an opportunity to work in Canada for up to 3 years after the completion of their study program. PGWP holders can use all their years of Canadian experience toward an application for immigration.
